Daikanyama Slope

This is a proposal for a vacant site in Daikanyama, a fashionable Tokyo shopping district.  The narrow site tapers and curves, climbing 6 meters over its length. The design takes advantage of the slope by opening street level access to three different leasable units.

The shape of the plan is dictated by the site, but the building massing undulates to break up the 50 meter facade. Voids reference surrounding walkways, creating opportunities for visual and pedestrian connection across the new urban wall. The building is capped with a double height gallery space, accessed directly from the office entry lobby. The gallery connects horizontally with two terraces and a conference room, ensuring maximum flexibility for events.
